Artist Statement:

"I use photography as a means to explore the loss of innocence
and the discovery of self. By drawing influence from folklore and
fairy tales, I isolate common emotions easily relatable to everyone. These photographs represent the basic struggles in life and the desire to free oneself from them. As in the stories that influence
my work, I strive to achieve both a sense of child-like beauty and simplicity, while juxtaposing this with surreal and mysterious elements.

My fascination with fairy tales began at an early age. I was drawn
to the power these of stories, which have not only remained culturally relevant but have been reinterpreted and restructured to fit a modern framework. There is a fundamental simplicity to these tales, yet they simultaneously possess a strong subjective quality.

The reader, or in my case the viewer, is allowed to interpret the story in their own way. The process of staging and carrying out these narratives, acts as a form of emotional catharsis.
My involvement both as the creator and subject in these photographs is just as rewarding to me as the completed work itself."
